Elections for FBA Officers & Board of Directors
To the average member it may seem that new Officers and Directors magically appear. The reality is that new board members are elected by the membership. Electing new members to the Board of Directors is an active and ongoing process that occurs each year. Forming a board with a high caliber of directors creates a synergy in the boardroom that produces the highest potential for innovative and progressive results. The best boards have a diverse skill set around the boardroom.
As an organization the FBA was founded by firefighters for firefighters. This however does not limit our membership to a singular skill set. We have many among us who possess a vast array of talents that are beneficial to our association. Many of the common skills to look for in board candidates include:
- Strategic planning
- Experience and expertise
- Accounting and finance
- Business development
- Public relations
- Event planning/fundraising
- Internet and social media
- Membership development
At our recently convened annual membership meeting nominations were made from among our ranks for the positions of Vice President, Secretary and 9 seats on the Board of Directors. It the right and responsibility of our active members to cast their ballot and let their voice be heard. To make the voting process as convenient as possible and to facilitate greater participation we have amended our bylaws to allow for online voting.
Active members should register their membership with the link below or under the MEMBERS tab on the navigation bar at the top of the screen. Once your account is active you may cast your ballot.
