First Responders & PTSD

Saving Those Who Save Others”

An in-depth FF/EMT suicide prevention/awareness course designed to educate attendees on warning signs/symptoms, communications, emotional and physical behaviors.

We’ve had some great successes recently in the passing of legislation regarding PTSD thanks largely to the efforts of the Vila family and all those involved in the lobbying and educating of our legislators. Now it’s time to educate ourselves to prevent any other avoidable future tragedies.

The Firemen’s Benevolent Association, Local 754 and the Stevie LaDue Firefighters Foundation, along with several other sponsors, have partnered to host “Saving Those Who Save Others”, a FREE seminar on PTSD awareness. This course will be held on May 7th, 8th & 9th at the Aparicio-Levy Technical College. There will be 2 sessions available each day, 9-11am & 1-3pm, to provide all personnel from A-B-C shifts the opportunity to attend. This event is open to all active and retired firefighters as this is an issue that affects us all!

The course is designed for all personnel regardless of rank or position and will cover many topics from identifying signs and symptoms to developing coping strategies to available intervention programs such as an Employee Assistance Program or EAP.

This is a FREE program for first responders and all are encouraged to take the time to attend and to support our efforts to provide these opportunities. Please see the flyer posted below for course topics and registration information.
